The brief descriptions below are designed to familiarize you with our staff's training, professional credentials and work experience.
Janice K. Pliszczak, D.D.S. 
Dr. Pliszczak is a native of the Syracuse area; in fact, she was a patient of this practice as a child. She grew up in Solvay, where she currently resides, and was valedictorian of Solvay High School in 1982. After graduating magna cum laude from Le Moyne College with a B.S. in Chemistry, she received her dental degree from SUNY Buffalo School of Dental Medicine. She then completed a dental general practice residency at the Albany Veterans Administration Medical Center.
Dr. Pliszczak then returned to Syracuse, where she was an associate before purchasing her own practice. During those years, she earned a M.S. in Management from SUNY Oswego and an M.B.A. from Le Moyne College.
In the Academy of General Dentistry, she earned Fellowship (FAGD) status in 1997 and Mastership (MAGD) status in 2001. She earned the Lifelong Learning and Service Recognition (LLSR) in the summer of 2009.
She is also a product reviewer for Dental Products Shopper and a member of the American Dental Association's Clinical Evaluator (ACE) Panel. Additionally, she is a practitioner-evaluator for the PEARL (Practitioners Engaged in Applied Research and Learning) Network, which is sponsored by the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Through the PEARL Network, she is a co-author of a research article on endodontic treatment and restorative outcomes in general practice which was presented in April 2009 at the International Association of Dental Research (IADR) meeting.
Her involvement with the dental community on the local, state, and national levels is extensive. Locally, she is a past president of the Onondaga County Dental Society. Additionally, she serves as president and editor of the 5th District Dental Society of the State of New York. Through these societies, she has co-chaired the dental booth at the New York State Fair since 2007 and has coordinated the dental booth at the most recent senior health fair.
On the state level, she is the immediate past president of the New York State Academy of General Dentistry and was its first female president . Nationally, she serves on the Group Benefits Council of the Academy of General Dentistry and has been a delegate to their national meeting since 2003.
In her spare time, Dr. Pliszczak enjoys traveling, photography, and shopping.
