These options seem like significant time savers for people who are on the go, but is that really the best option? If you are trying to drink water to improve your oral health, the answer is maybe not.
Why Your Teeth Want You Drinking Tap Water
City water has been fortified with fluoride for many years. This means that as the water passes through the water treatment plant, they add some fluoride into it to help give you better oral health when you consume it.
If you only drink bottled water, then there is a good chance that you are not getting enough fluoride to be able to keep your teeth healthy.
There are exceptions to this, however. If you live in a town that has dangerous city water, or if you happen to live on a well, then you should be careful about what you drink.
If your water is safe to consume, then drink it for all the mineral effects that you get, such as iron and sodium. If your water is unsafe for some reason, then you should opt to drink bottled water to keep yourself healthy.
For those that tend to drink bottled water, or those that cannot drink fluoride-fortified water at home, make sure you contact our office.
