Taking care of your teeth can sometimes feel like a hassle and aggravation to deal with. You've brushed twice, and rinsed out your mouth after each drink and meal, what else could there be left to do? Not so fast! Here are several common mistakes that people routinely make that can negatively impact their dental health care. Flawed Foods If you frequently snack, or regularly chow down on spicy or acidic foods, you may be damaging your gums and teeth. Particularly if you do so after your last brush of the night, you can unknowingly build up acid and plaque throughout the night due to an excessive splurged intake and undo all the hard work you put into making sure your teeth are properly tended to. Not So Fast! Don't rush to get through with it and end up messing up all your effort. The proper time to brush your teeth at night is not when you have free time for it, but immediately before bed, to ensure that your mouth stays clean and hydrated all night. And no matter how much of a hurry you are when you wake up and rush to start your day, make sure to scrape your tongue first, then brush for two full minutes, to remove all that built-up gunk and clean out your mouth. Don't Forget to FlossLess than two thirds of people even floss at all, and a slim minority floss as frequently as they should (once daily.) Even if you think you got all the built-up plaque out with your brush, spend that time flossing properly just to make sure your smile is perfect before heading out the door. If flossing is painful or uncomfortable, consider switching to a water or air flosser and working it into your daily routine. There are many things that people get right about their dental care habits, but also a number of avoidable mistakes that they make regularly.
